A short lecture for Dr. Jordan Peterson about Meritocracy and Competency.

Jordan explains that we need hierarchies of competence… so if our loved ones get sick (for example), we can find the best doctors and surgeons to help them. We want to reward those who are the best at what they do. Not just so that they keep doing their job, but so that they keep doing their best at their jobs!

Let’s hope that more smart people continue to occupy more positions of complexity. Why? Because they’re smarter! Would you want it any other way?

The #1 predictor of accomplishment in western society is “Intelligence.” So that means the system works! What’s the #2 predictor? “Conscientiousness”, a trademarker for “Hard work.”

So who gets ahead? Smart people who work hard!
